While there may have been various websites here and there, these pages really began around 1998 or so. I had been playing chess “seriously” for at least a couple of years at that point. So most of the oldest material available on these pages come from my own experiences on the Internet, playing online chess. I saved as much as I could – but the technologies involved naturally limited a lot of my early efforts. As the years pass by, things get easier and better. I’ve decided to take advantage of those technologies and completely rewrite everything, with a retro spin as able.
“Chronatog” has always been my online gamer tag ever since I registered on the Free Internet Chess Server (FICS). Certain readers may be familiar with this name from a different game, one that I played before chess (and still play to this day) – Magic: The Gathering. It contains unofficial Fan Content permitted under the Fan Content Policy. Not approved/endorsed by Wizards. Portions of the materials used are property of Wizards of the Coast. ©Wizards of the Coast LLC. I express no copyright or ownership of their material, and while I may from time to time write about Magic, it’s not the main focus of this site.
The flavor text is still as prescient as ever – there is no meal like the present.
The only copyrights I express over any of the material presented within this site is of those originally written or created by Nick Long. All other materials belong to their respective creators, authors, and owners. As for the GDPR regulations, the only disclaimer I will place on this website is that we collect the standard anonymized data that every single website collects by default. Any comments you leave will be at your own risk, but I’m not going to go around and delete everything upon request. You know why? Because if you’re going to leave a comment without intending for it to be a permanent comment, you may want to rethink doing so.
Any issues, please email iam at chronatog.com. We strive to respond within a year.
